A Lesson In Patience: The enchantment of fuchsias has held me since a child, when I would pop open a bud, impatient to discover the colourful gown secreted inside. “Just wait and see”, my Grandmother would say, but the temptation to peek in at gorgeous layers of imaginary silk and taffeta was often too great. Fuchsias were Cinderella and Ginger Rogers rolled into one balletic bloom that danced at the slightest breeze.
This year I’ve patiently waited for my hardy fuchsias to flower but the summer brought disappointment with new growth and buds being severely predated and depleted. Only now, as Autumn takes over have I been gratified with their colour. Read More…»
